4400 block of Young Drive in Montrose, a 30-year-old Montrose man was arrested for burglary and theft of a firearm after he entered his father’s bedroom and allegedly stole a rifle and rifle magazines containing ammunition. The father reported that his son, who he had a restraining order on, had broken into his locked bedroom and allegedly stole the rifle and ammunition that was placed under his bed.
The son was asleep in a bedroom. After an investigation deputies found the gun in a suitcase belonging to the son. The son was arrested at 2 a.m.
5000 Rosemont Avenue in La Crescenta, as a resident was upstairs at her home she heard someone enter her residence through the rear patio door. She contacted her brother. He responded to the location and entered through the side garage door. The suspect apparently exited through the front door of the residence dropping a glove and plastic bag as he left. The resident reported she thought she heard two male voices before she called her brother. An investigation discovered the rear patio doors had been damaged.
The incident occurred at 11:30 a.m.
Feb. 25
5400 block of Burning Tree Drive in La Cañada, a PlayStation gaming console, cash and a purse were stolen and several rooms in a home were ransacked between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Feb. 26
Foothill Boulevard and Hampton Road in La Cañada, a 30-year-old man and 31-year-old man, both from Los Angeles, were arrested for receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools and burglary after a deputy conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle. The deputy reportedly witnessed a plastic bottle being thrown from the vehicle. When the deputies approached the vehicle, they allegedly smelled an odor of marijuana. Deputies also noticed the front passenger driver door lock was punched out.
A search of the vehicle discovered a set of keys, including a type of key often used in burglaries and a pair of gloves from the back seat of the vehicle along with a camera that was reported stolen out of Chino.
The arrests occurred at 1:29 p.m.
