Notes & Nods

Drive Thru Nativity this weekend

This Friday and Saturday, Dec. 18–19 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Community Christian Church of the Foothills is hosting its annual free Drive-Thru Nativity Scene. The Drive-Thru Nativity has multiple scenes where church members dress as characters from the Bible including Mary and Joseph, the Angel who appears to be floating in the air, shepherds tending their flock of sheep, the Christ Child in the manger and wise men bringing gifts.  With music, lights, props and live animals, the scenes come alive and one feels transformed to Bethlehem.

The church is located at 10193 Tujunga Canyon Blvd., one block northwest of Commerce and Foothill, next to the Tujunga post office and one block north of Joselito’s West Mexican Restaurant.  Follow the signs on Foothill the night of the event.  Call (818) 353-8080 for more information or visit www.churchofthefoothills.com.

Christmas Services to Feature Nativity Animals

La Crescenta Presbyterian will be offering four Christmas services. There will be three family services at 7 p.m. on Dec. 23, at 3 and 5 p.m. on Dec. 24 that will feature live nativity animals in front of the church, a sing-a-long with Christmas carols led by the praise band and a Christmas message from Pastor Andy Wilson. There will also be a traditional candlelight service held at 10 p.m. on Dec. 24 that will include the Cathedral Choir and a message from Pastor Wilson.

Drama, music to highlight First Baptist Christmas celebration

On Dec. 20 at 10:45 a.m., First Baptist Church at La Crescenta will be celebrating Christmas through dramatic presentation, meaningful music and God’s word. One of the celebration’s highlights will be a moving drama presentation by professional actors about the encounter of Mary, the mother of Jesus, and her cousin Elizabeth.

The public is invited to join the celebration on Sunday morning as Pastor Bill Flanders along with the worship team celebrate the true significance of Christmas.
