Going into Monday night’s game at Montrose Park, the only two undefeated CSA Bronco teams faced off for the first time this season. Manager Dave Kim’s team, Liberty Building Maintenance, entered the game with two wins and one tie. Lawrence R Moss & Assoc. (LRM), under manager Brian Hunter, came in with a perfect 3-0 record but were without the services of key player Chad Ruf, who was out with an injury.

LRM starting pitcher Roy Choe faced six batters in the first inning. Liberty capitalized on strong base running and timely hits to jump out to an early 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the first, LRM rallied back with two runs by Choe and Matthew Molina against Matt Odom (three innings, six strikeouts). Ahead 3-2, Liberty scored five runs on four hits and four walks in the second inning including an RBI single by Oliver Gallup-Miles that drove home Carsten Sondergaard to make it 8-2.

Tyler Lobianco scored the lone run for LRM in the second after an RBI single by Alex Hoffhine that cut the lead to 8-3.

Liberty’s Andrew Hong scored on a past-ball, but that was the only run allowed by Nate Burke in the third.

Behind 9-3, the speedy Choe stole two bases and scored on a past-ball after being walked.

Up 9-4, Liberty continued the attack when Carter Walch scored the third and final run of the inning on an RBI single by Aaron Kim. Relief pitchers Andrew Odom and Aaron Kim shut down the LRM batters in the fourth and fifth innings respectively. For Liberty, Andrew Odom went 3-3 and scored three runs and Jake Jilizian also went 3-3 and scored one run, while Andrew Hong scored twice highlighted by a diving catch in the third.

Highlights for LRM included Choe (1-1, a walk and two runs) and Lobianco who scored once and made some solid plays in the field as did first baseman Nathaniel Burke.

Both teams return to the field on Saturday.
