The Silver Beaver Award is the highest honor that can be bestowed a scouter by local council. Beverly Bowen de Lucia received Silver Beaver Award on March 1 from the San Gabriel Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

De Lucia has volunteered within the San Gabriel Valley, Verdugo Hills and Western Los Angeles County councils. She currently serves as the assistant district commissioner for all La Cañada units in the Rose Bowl district and is on the Wind Under Their Wings luncheon committee that pays tribute to the women who have played an important role in the life of an Eagle Scout.     De Lucia is the recipient of the District Award of Merit and was Commissioner of the Year in 2011. Beverly has been a Tiger Cub coach, den leader, Webelos den leader and is currently an assistant scoutmaster, committee member and a merit badge counselor at Troop 509 at JPL in La Cañada where she has attended Camp Cherry Valley as an adult volunteer.

She has been married to her husband Frank for 24 years, and they have two children. Alexis, a Gold Girl Scout, and Adam, an Eagle Scout, are both currently attending college. De Lucia has been an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America since her son Adam joined as a Tiger Cub in 2000.

A native Californian, Beverly was a Campfire Girl in her hometown of San Luis Obispo where she developed a love for camping and for youth programs such as Scouting. She believes in inspiring and supporting our youth to allow them to become anything they want to be.

Outside of Scouting, De Lucia and her husband have owned FastFrame in La Cañada for the last eight years. Beverly has served on the board of directors of the La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce as a vice president and on the board of directors at North Hollywood First Christian Church. She takes great pride in raising her family in the Crescenta Valley and gives back by volunteering many hours of community service.

Additionally, she serves the Girl Scouts as a past leader and currently serves as a national delegate, is chairperson of the capital campaign program of the YMCA of the Foothills and as an Indian Guides chief. She has been a team mom with AYSO and sat on countless school committees.

De Lucia works in the summer for EF (Education First) as a recruiter and program leader, bringing over 100 high school students from around the world to live with local host families for one month. Over the years, the de Lucia family has hosted 10 international students.

Her passion is traveling and hopes to see as much of the world as possible throughout her life, but when traveling isn’t in the cards, she brings the world home.
