Thanks to an anonymous tip a Rosemont Middle School student was arrested on Monday on suspicion of possession of a narcotic.

“We received an email on our school’s website. It was short and to the point,” said Rosemont Principal Michele Doll.

The school staff and Deputy Scott Shinagawa, school resource officer, investigated and allegedly found a student in possession of the drug ecstasy, a mind altering drug with hallucinogenic and amphetamine-like properties.

“He was found with several pills of ecstasy,” said Sgt. Ray Harley of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The boy was arrested and taken to the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Doll added that the situation was handled quickly and praised the person who emailed the school.

“We always encourage people to put their names on the emails they send so we can follow up if we have to and those names are always kept confidential. In this case it was anonymous and we respect that too,” she added.

The Rosemont anonymous email system has been set up in the past and has helped the school take a proactive stand to keep kids safe, Doll said.
