PRESCHOOL EXPO PLANNED

The 3rd Annual Preschool Expo hosted by the Mom’s Club of the Foothills will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 23 at the Presbyterian Church in La Crescenta. Multiple preschools will be present as well as kid related businesses. The Presbyterian church is located at 2902 Montrose in La Crescenta.

MUSICA-MEXICO AT THE CENTER FOR THE ARTS

Santa Cecilia Orchestra presents Chamber Music Up Close featuring “Musica-Mexico.” “Musica-Mexico” is a celebratory concert of chamber music from the richest of musical repertoires with an unlikely twist. The event takes place at 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 16 at the Center For The Arts in Eagle Rock. Performers include the Formalist Quartet of Julie Feves, bassoon, Gerardo Flores-Pacheco, flute and Juan Pablo Contreras, vocalist. Ticket pricing: $19, $12 (youth 17 and under).

FLOAT HELP SOUGHT

The La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Association is seeking volunteers as well as donations to complete the city’s entry in the 2010 parade. For the 32nd consecutive year the City of La Cañada Flintridge will be represented in the Rose Parade with a float entirely built and decorated through volunteer efforts. Of the 31 previous entries, 21 have received awards, including five for Best Animation. Anyone available to lend some hands-on help can come to the construction site any Saturday morning at the rear of Valley Water Company, 4524 Hampton Road and toot your horn when you reach the gate; the construction gang will find a job for you. To volunteer for “deco week” after the float moves next door under the bridge on Dec. 26, visit www.lcftra.org, click on “Scissored Wizard Decorator Forms Now Available Here”, and complete and submit the form as instructed. MOM’S CLUB HOLDING JANUARY MEETING

Mom’s Club of the Foothills, a support group for stay at home moms in the Crescenta Valley area, will hold its monthly meeting at 10 a.m. on Thursday Jan. 14th at St. Luke’s Church (no religious affiliation) located at 2563 Foothill Blvd. Visitors and children welcome. NOON CONCERTS OPEN TO PUBLIC

Glendale Noon Concerts is a free admission concert series taking place every first and third Wednesday from 12:10-12:40 p.m. in the newly restored chapel and sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Glendale (downtown at Louise & Wilson, no religious affiliation). On Wednesday, Jan. 6 VERKLAERTE NACHT/ Transfigured Night Op. 4 (1899) for string sextet by Arnold Schoenberg with the Kewa Ensemble & Friends will be performing. All are encouraged to relax during their lunch hour with live music. Light lunch for purchase by Angela’s Bistro available for $6.
