La Cañada Flintridge’s “Scsssored Wizard” really was a cut above the rest as it won the Fantasy Trophy at the 121st Tournament of Roses Parade.

All traffic headed to Pasadena this morning as thousands of people lined Colorado Boulevard for a chance to see how cut flowers come to life again with imagination and creativity.

Though a few floats had to be towed down the boulevard, that didn’t detract from their beauty—even the tow trucks were decorated.  However, the Scissored Wizard from  La Cañada  glided down the boulevard under its own power.  The countless hours dedicated to the designing and construction of the float was evident as the crowd cheered the wizard and his dragon. The concept design by 16-year-old Emily Neilson of a wizard creating an origami dragon was a crowd and judge pleaser.

The Glendale “America’s Pride” also had the crowd cheering with a gigantic American flag carried in front of the float.  Eagle Scouts led and followed the patriotic Glendale eagle.
