The Kiwanis Club of La Cañada AM has been participating in the Eliminate Project, whose goal is to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus from 30 countries by providing doses of tetanus vaccine. A fundraiser features Bob Burleson riding his motorcycle to a Kiwanis Club meeting in each of the 48 states and via a webcam to meetings in Alaska and Hawaii. Burleson plans to begin his trip on Monday, May 27 from Memorial Park in La Cañada and return on Labor Day. This will cover an anticipated 13,000 miles which is expected to set a Guiness World Record, raise funds and publicize the joint effort of Kiwanis and UNICEF.
Donations to the KURE2013 will support the Eliminate Project.
Other efforts to support the Eliminate Project include a recent fundraiser with members of the Key Club, the Builders Club at La Cañada High School and the Kiwanis Club of La Canada. The groups teamed up this past weekend to collect money for the Kiwanis Eliminate Project by selling peanuts outside the Ralphs store in La Cañada. Proceeds from the sale benefitted the project.
