On Sunday, Dec. 13, Tiger Cub Scouts from Pack 360 in La Crescenta opened the annual Nixon Library Hanukkah Program for an enthusiastic crowd of several hundred revelers. Together, the dens marched the California and American flags down the aisle of the East Room and performed the opening flag ceremony to kick off the holiday program. The East Room of the Nixon Library, a near-exact replica of the East Room of the White House (except that it is much bigger than the original), was a spirited venue to hold this celebration. The boys collected everyone’s attention before leading the “Pledge of Allegiance” followed by the “Star Spangled Banner.” During the next hour, the boys enjoyed the dancing, singing, and the lighting of the Menorah. Before closing out the ceremony, the troops marched down the aisle one more time to retire the flags, after which the room erupted into a chorus of “God Bless America.” The boys then enjoyed the exhibits of the museum as well as the temporary train displays.
Pack 360 is based at Dunsmore Elementary School in La Crescenta, and is a member of the Verdugo Hills Council.
