Local car lovers will get their fill of all things exhaust and “cackle” (the sound made when engines are revved up) at the 12th Annual Montrose Car Show taking place on Saturday on Honolulu Avenue. It’s will have everything a car enthusiast loves: classic cars, hot rods, and exotics all found in the Montrose Shopping Park.

Montrose has long hosted car shows. The shopping park used to have two separate events, one for classic cars and another for hot rods, but 12 years ago organizers decided to combine the two into one, all encompassing car show.

Dave Maher, Tom Russell and Don Tubbs are in charge of choosing what will be on display. There will be 50 classic cars showcased in the 2200 block of Honolulu and will feature a Model-T Ford and Model-A Ford. The owners of all the cars will be on-site so guests can ask questions they may have.

For lovers of fast cars, hot rods will be found in the 2300 and 2400 blocks of Honolulu. An expected 200 will be showcased along with exotic cars like Lamborghini and Ferrari.

Dave McClelland, the voice of the National Hot Rod Association, will also be found along Honolulu Avenue on Saturday along with famous dragsters and their owners, Bill Pitts with his Magic Car and Pete Eastwood with Ed Pink’s Old Master.

Many of the merchants in the shopping park will be offering deals, sales and special giveaways. Members of the Prom Plus Club will be decked out in period clothing reflecting the various eras represented by the automobiles.

Saturday is expected to be the largest Montrose Car Show to date, encompassing all three blocks of Honolulu. It takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free to attend.
