The Glendale Latino Assn. distributed scholarships to deserving students at its annual scholarship breakfast held on May 30 at the Oakmont Country Club. More than a dozen students attending Glendale schools were honored with financial assistance to further their education.

The GLA has been supporting Latino college bound students for over 16 years and awards thousands of dollars in scholarships annually.

Students who demonstrate academic achievement, volunteerism and a future return to their community are considered for a scholarship. Successful applicants must be full-time high school seniors or college students who demonstrate potential for successful college careers and financial need.

This program is funded by individuals, corporations, local businesses, and professionals in Glendale and surrounding cities.

The GLA hosts a monthly mixer, generally on the last Wednesday of the month. Proceeds benefit the scholarship fund.
