Dave passed away very suddenly on July 5. He was born in Neche, N.D. and was the only child of Dorothy and David Robert “Bob” Beggs. He was raised in Glendale and attended Jefferson Elementary, Toll Jr. High and Hoover High School. He served in the Navy from 1956-1959. He was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Toledo, a heavy cruiser and received the rank of 3rd class gunners mate. During his service he made several trips overseas to Japan, Korea, Philippines and Australia.

He and his high school sweetheart Patricia North were married in October 1958 and have four children: David Robert “Bobby” Beggs, Lisa (Beggs) Blue, Christopher (Kelly) Beggs and Denise (Scott) Neale. His son Bobby preceded him in death in 1969.

They have three grandchildren: Matthew and Jason Beggs and Hayley Neale.

Dave and Pat have lived in Montrose since 1963.

He worked for Thriftimart Markets in various capacities, as a delivery driver for Laura Scudder’s and worked as a handyman and did minor home repair and painting before retiring in 1997. He loved camping and enjoyed many years of camping trips with the family.

A gathering for family and friends to celebrate his life will be held at the home of Chris and Kelly Beggs in La Crescenta. Burial at sea is planned. He was dearly loved by his family and he will be missed by all who knew him.
