Summer Hike at Preserve
The first of the Rosemont Preserve summer hikes is on Saturday, July 27 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Dr. James Adams of USC will lead a fascinating exploration of the natural resources abundant on the Rosemont Preserve and how they were used by early residents of the canyon. Co-author of “Healing with Medicinal Plants of the West” and associate professor of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences at USC, Dr. Adams is an expert on herbal remedies, antioxidants and human drug metabolism.
Sturdy shoes and long pants are recommended.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. in La Crescenta.
The event is free to the public, all ages, no reservations required.
Chili Cook-off Planned
The fourth annual La Crescenta Chili Cook-Off will take place on Saturday, Aug. 10 at the La Crescenta Library. The cook-off is open to the public and anyone who would like to take part can contact the library before Aug. 7.
The La Crescenta Library is located at 2809 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta.
CVCA Meeting Announcement

Support Group Plans Golf Classic
The Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station Support Group is holding its 30th Annual Golf Classic on Aug. 19. It is being held at 11:30 a.m. at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club and will include lunch with tee off at 1 p.m.
This event is organized by the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Support Group. Proceeds to benefit the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station and its volunteers.
