Ryan Flynn of La Crescenta graduated from La Salle High School summa cum laude and received the highest award for math and science in addition to placing on the gold honor roll. He received a merit scholarship from the LAFD and will be leaving in August for Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey, where he received a full academic scholarship, the Ann P. Nuepauer Scholarship. He was accepted in the scholars program at Stevens.

Loyola Marymount University has announced the following students named to the dean’s list for the spring semester: from Glendale – Yusef Trad and Hasmik Simidyan; from La Cañada – Sarah Duncan, James Robbins, Kelsey Glidewell, Gregory Lee, Ian Balisy, Collin Chersi, Matt Mulfinger, Derek Georgino, Nicole Yonan and Daniel Huh; from La Crescenta – Jazmin Infante, Priscilla Casper, Matthew Cervera, John Jabbra, Evanne Drucker and Karina Alvarez; from Tujunga – Shirley Drange, Steven De Las Casas, Andrew Kowalczyk and Nareh Nazaryan.

Students named to the dean’s list have completed 15 semester hours at LMU and earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better. Additionally, a student must have completed all of his or her courses and never received an F in any course.

Located between the Pacific Ocean and downtown Los Angeles, Loyola Marymount University is a comprehensive university offering 60 major programs, 36 masters’ degrees and a doctoral degree in education from four colleges, two schools and Loyola Law School.

La Cañada residents Kristine Locker, sophomore, and Daniel Trujillo, junior, were named to the Southern Methodist University undergraduate honor roll with distinction, which includes students in the top 10 percentile, for the spring 2013 semester.

SMU’s spring 2013 enrollment included 10,541 students.

La Cañada resident James Christensen received a bachelor of business administration degree in finance during SMU’s May commencement.

Christina Martin, a resident of Glendale, received a bachelor of arts in psychology and a bachelor of business administration in marketing during the May commencement.

After the university-wide Commencement, SMU’s schools and departments held individual receptions throughout the day to honor graduates.

SMU is a nationally ranked private university in Dallas founded 100 years ago.

Springfield College in Massachusetts has named Chantalle Abdelkerim of La Cañada to the dean’s list for academic excellence for the spring 2013 term. Abdelkerim is studying health science/occupational therapy.
