Crescenta Valley High School graduate Kasey Baldwin was awarded the Veterans of Foreign War’s Dick Hlebasco Scholarship of $500 on July 17 at the American Legion Hall in La Crescenta.

Kasey was eligible for the VFW scholarship because of the VFW memberships of both her grandfather Mike Baldwin, a Vietnam veteran, and her late great-grandfather Harvard C. White, a WWII veteran.

Kasey maintained a GPA of 3.5 and earned over 200 hours of community service with the VFW, American Legion, Operation Gratitude, Crescenta Valley Little League, and as manager of the Crescenta Valley High School baseball team.

Kasey will attend community college and transfer to Pepperdine to study kinesiology and plans to become a physical therapist. She is currently working for the City of Glendale, Parks Dept. in the Summer Day Care session.
