Jordan Wen Ing of La Cañada was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester at Washington University in St. Louis. Ing is enrolled in the university’s College of Arts & Sciences.

To qualify for the dean’s list in the College of Arts & Sciences, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.6 or above and be enrolled in at least 14 graded units.

Washington University is counted among the world’s leaders in teaching and research, and it draws students and faculty to St. Louis from all 50 states and more than 120 nations.

Kara Vadman of Sunland was a recipient of the dean’s award for academic excellence during the 2013 spring term at Colgate University where Vadman is a member of the class of 2014 and studies geology.

To be eligible for the dean’s award, a Colgate student must achieve higher than a 3.30 average while enrolled in at least four courses. Vadman is a graduate of Reseda High School.

Colgate University is a highly selective residential liberal arts institution distinguished by academic excellence and interdisciplinary inquiry.

The following students received an Associate of Arts degree from Oxford College of Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., at its 168th commencement ceremony: Simon Kim and Austin Yeon of La Crescenta, Kyle Su of La Cañada Flintridge.

Tiffany Chen of La Cañada received a Bachelor of Science from Emory College of Arts and Sciences.

Robert William of La Crescenta earned a Bachelor of Science with a focus in criminal justice management from Union Institute & University.

Lydia Kay of La Cañada, class of 2013, won the John F. Boyer Award from Trinity College in Connecticut and received faculty honors for the 2013 spring semester.

To earn faculty honors, a student must achieve a semester grade point average of at least a 3.667 with no individual letter grade below B-minus.

Yoo Kyung Lee of Montrose, Ashton E. Avila of Glendale and Rachel Ryu of La Crescenta qualified for the spring 2013 dean’s list at the University of Rhode Island. To be included on the dean’s list, students must have completed 12 or more credits during a semester for letter grades with at least a 3.30 quality point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 credits with a 3.30 quality point average.

The students represent all of Rhode Island’s cities and towns, all six New England states, New York and New Jersey, many other states and more than a dozen countries.
