Suzy Jacobs WEB 2013
We focus on prevention.  But what if your child is engaging in risky behavior?  Here’s a page from The Partnership at DrugFree.org.  They’re the people who brought you the fried eggs, “This is your brain on drugs” ad. Visit www.drugfree.org/intervene to read more.

Do you think — or know — that your child is using drugs or alcohol?

Even if you believe your teen is just “experimenting,” it’s important to take action right away.

Casual drug use can quickly turn into drug abuse, dependence or addiction and can lead to accidents, legal trouble and serious health issues.

If you are at all concerned about your child – or even just have a bad feeling – you can and should intervene by:

•    Setting tighter limits with clear consequences

•    Getting outside help and support if necessary

•    Having productive conversations with your child. Remain calm, share your concerns and listen.

•    Closely monitoring your child’s behavior and activities.

Changing topics, Pastor Bill Flanders and the staff and congregants of First Baptist Church at La Crescenta welcomed us for a fun-filled Concert Under the Stars on Saturday night. Special thanks to them, and worship leader Manny David, concert organizer. Café Fuego’s music was magical; their version of “Malagueña” rocked! Manny knows his music!

Thanks, too, to the Prom Plus Club kids, consummate volunteers. They passed the buckets with great enthusiasm!

Finally, the CV Town Council, our community leaders. They came out in great numbers and honor us with continued support. Best of all was talking to the people in our community, both church members and not. Thank you for your support!

It was a beautiful night, the food was delicious, people brought children and dogs. Next time we hope to see you on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Join us for an evening of Brazilian Jazz and food trucks.

We need a volunteer to help make flyers! We offer students community service hours. Contact Julia@cvdapc.org to learn more.
