From Insurance Agents to Caterers – You’ll Find Them All at the Expo

In the market for a web designer? Preparing to host a bridal or baby shower? Interested in learning more about some of the valley’s restaurants? These and more will be on display at the 12th Annual Foothills Community Business Expo.

The Foothills Community Business Expo will occupy the fourth floor community rooms of USC Verdugo Hills Hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., attendees can survey some of the local businesses they may have overlooked in the past or reacquaint themselves with some old favorites.

The annual expo is a three way-partnership between the chambers of commerce of Crescenta Valley, La Cañada-Flintridge and Montrose-Verdugo City. Chambers of Commerce take pride in partnering with businesses and the Sept. 18 event will showcase a variety of local organizations that provide a wide range of services. Nearly 70 different businesses will be represented at this year’s expo.

“This gives the public a chance to visit with numerous businesses in one location,” said Jean Maluccio of the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce, speaking to the advantages of the annual expo, which features businesses hailing from three separate foothills communities.

The business expo and Verdugo Hills Hospital have been entwined for the past 12 years.

“Due to the generosity of the hospital [that donates the space], we are able to charge a minimal fee for the exhibitors,” said Maluccio. “This is a really good opportunity for the public.”

Whereas in early years exhibitors just filled the community rooms, the last few years have seen an overflow of exhibitors into the adjacent hallways and entry way. In fact, the last few expos have sold out exhibition space, guaranteeing an informational – and fun – night for those who attend.

To entice the public to stop by, complimentary food will be available from eight different local vendors. There will also be free document shredding in the east parking lot. Door prizes will be available.

And perhaps the best news of all? The event is free to the public.
