Tribes Program Gets Ready for Fall Launch

The YMCA of the Foothills is excited to launch another year of the Tribes program (formerly known as Indian Guides). The purpose of the Tribes program is to foster the relationship between dads and their kids. Spending quality time with children will help build a strong bond of trust and memories that will last a lifetime.

Participants will have the opportunity to develop strong relationships by joining a unique Tribe with other dads and kids in which they will participate in activities, games, camping trips, ceremonies and family adventures. Monthly activities include pumpkin carve, Pinewood Derby, roller skating, pancake breakfast, Camp Fox and much more.

“Along with my daughter Violet, we have been participating in the Tribes program for three years now and have loved every bit of it,” said father Les Borsay of the Cayuga Tribe. “It has really given us some amazing memories and friendships that we know will last forever. I cannot say enough positive things about this program and how wonderful it’s been to be active in it.”

The Tribes program is open to dads and their kids in grades kindergarten through third grade. The program runs from September to May and registration is now open.

“I have participated in Tribes with both my daughter and son over the last five years and found it to be a greatly rewarding experience for both of them,” said father Brent Kuszyk. “We have made lasting friendships and enjoyed the many activities.”

During September, there will be three new member events and a kickoff campfire on Sept. 28. For more information on the program, visit www.ymcafoothills.org/tribes.

The Y is located at 1930 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada.
