Kiko Brenneisen
Kiko Brenneisen Jr. was born Feb. 2, 1995 in Los Angeles to Kiko and Bobbie Brenneisen. He has one younger brother, Derek.

Kiko attended Monte Vista Elementary and Rosemont Middle schools. During this time, Kiko was involved with music, primarily playing the drums in a garage band with his friends Elliot Wilson, Mac Wright and Porter Hansen. He also played the trumpet in the school orchestra.

Kiko attended Crescenta Valley High and graduated on June 4. At CV, he was an active member of the instrumental music programs under the direction of Mathew Schick where he played his snare drum in marching band, and drum set (drummer) for the award winning jazz band. He was section leader for drum line and for the jazz band’s rhythm section. During his senior year he held the offices of president of marching band and vice president of jazz band. He received the prestigious Louis Armstrong Jazz Award. In January 2013 he had the honor of marching in the 124th Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade as herald snare, playing alongside with the trumpeters.

Kiko is a very active member of Montrose Church. In the past years, he became the leader of the youth group’s praise team performing every Wednesday evening. He volunteers his time as a church leader of Jr. High Youth group and a camp counselor during the weeks of Vacation Bible School (VBS). In addition, he is currently a member of the adult praise team playing on alternate Sunday mornings.

Kiko’s scouting experience started later than most, beginning as a Webelo. By having his friends around him and being under the leadership of a great scoutmaster, he quickly grew to enjoy scouting and advanced through the ranks. His most memorable scouting experience was the 30-mile hike up near Mammoth Lakes.

His Eagle service project was to build bat boxes for the Theodore Payne Foundation, an organization committed to the preservation of native California plants. Essentially homes for bats, his bat boxes helped attract and protect local bats that help pollinate the flowers located in and around the Foundation. Kiko thanks all the scoutmasters and leaders who gave of their time and energy in helping him through his years’ of scouts. He also extends much appreciation to those who helped him complete his Eagle project.

This fall, Kiko will be attending USC majoring in performance (popular music). He will be working under some great professors such as Peter Erskine, two-time Grammy award winner who drummed for big names such as Stan Kenton and Weather Report, and Ndugu Chancler, who worked with Michael Jackson on many of his tracks.



Gavin McAllister Traber
Gavin, the son of Kevin and Allister Traber, came into this world on March 20, 1996 with a love for tradition, music and money. He has an older brother, Alec, and a younger brother and fellow Scout, Andrew. Gavin has grown up with a strong love for God and family and he is an active member of Montrose Church.

As a youth, Gavin played baseball, soccer, piano and the trumpet. At Monte Vista Elementary, he performed in three musicals and from fourth to sixth grade he played the trumpet in the wind ensemble, Monty’s Masters and at GUSD’s Honor’s Concert. During his ’tween years at Rosemont M.S., Gavin spent playing the trumpet in concert and jazz band, as well as the GUSD’s middle school Honors Concert. At promotion, he earned the President’s Education Award. As a freshman at CV, Gavin eagerly joined the marching band/concert band and was awarded “Best Freshman Marcher.”

He’s a strong leader and for the past two years he was equipment manager for band. He’s enjoyed traveling to Orlando, Las Vegas, New York and Santa Barbara with the music department and playing in the “pit” for “My Fair Lady” and “The Mystery of Edwin Drood.” Last year he joined the “world famous” CV jazz band. Gavin has now taken the helm as president of the CV marching band for his final year at CV.

Gavin’s scouting experience began at Monte Vista when fathers, led by Mike Leum, formed Cub Scouts Den 7 in Pack 302. Gavin learned a vast amount from his years as a Bobcat to Webelos, leading to his Arrow of Light and entry into Boy Scouts.

During the past six years, Gavin has earned 24 merit badges at summer camps, merit badge manias, troop meetings and, with the help of his family, served as patrol leader, assist, senior patrol leader, senior patrol leader, chief for his little brother’s Cub Scout den and as troop guide. He proudly earned the 50 Miler Award for his hike from Mammoth to Yosemite when he was 12, the Leave No Trace: Outdoor Ethics Award, the Soil and Water Conservation Award, and the Den Chief Service Award and was one of the first three Scouts in Troop 390 to be admitted into the Order of the Arrow

To achieve Eagle Scout, Gavin planned, developed, organized and implemented his Eagle Scout project, working closely with Mat Schick, the instrumental music director at CVHS, and with local contractor and friend Joshua Gould. The project consisted of building a storage bin with shelving and cabinets inside for the music department to allow more space in the overcrowded music room. Coleen Godwin, as always, was a huge help. Amazing friends, family and fellow Scouts came together to finish the project in one single, long day!

Kirk James Wilson
Kirk, the son of Craig and Melissa Wilson, was born on April 17, 1995 in Glendale. He has an older brother, Chris, who is a fellow Eagle Scout, an older sister Molly and a younger brother Chad who is also a Boy Scout in the troop. Kirk attended La Crescenta Elementary School, Rosemont Middle School and recently graduated from Crescenta Valley High School. He was a CSF gold seal bearer and maintained a 4.0 while attending CV.

Kirk earned CV’s Community Service Award by performing 100 hours of service. Kirk received a scholarship from the La Crescenta-Montrose Kiwanis Club, one of two scholarships designated for Eagle Scouts. Kirk will be attending Brigham Young University in the fall where he is planning to major in mechanical engineering.

Kirk started playing the trumpet in fourth grade, was in the concert band at Rosemont and continued to play his trumpet in the CV award winning jazz band and marching band. He enjoyed traveling with the jazz band to New York and Santa Barbara. He was also on the Pacific League champion water polo and swim teams during his freshman year.

Kirk began his scouting experience as a Cub Scout when he was 8 years old. He enjoyed having his Dad as the Cub Master for most of those years.  Some of his most memorable cub scouting events included many successful Pinewood Derby races. As a Cub Scout, he earned his Arrow of Light Award.  In Boy Scouts, he attended two summer camps, served as a senior patrol leader and quartermaster and earned 28 merit badges.

Kirk is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he has been an active member of the deacons, teachers and priests quorums, serving as the president of some of these quorums. He has attended early morning seminary for the past four years.

For his Eagle Project, Kirk organized an American flag project that was coordinated with the American Legion, which included three parts. First, the collection of 150-plus worn and tattered American flags from friends, family, and the community that were retired through ceremony. The second part of the project was the purchase of 900 pocket flags, using donations from the community. These flags were properly folded and sent to the troops on the front lines. The last part of the project was educating the community on flag etiquette. This was done with flyers and a website.

Kirk would like to thank all the scouts and families who helped with his project. He also wishes to thank the many leaders who have helped him along the trail to Eagle.
