IN Brief

Big Rigs Ban on CVTC Agenda
The community is invited to the next meeting of the Crescenta Valley Town Council when the County of Los Angeles presents a draft ordinance to ban big rigs in sections of the county in Crescenta Valley.

The meeting is on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at the La Crescenta Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta.

Rockhaven Presentation Planned for Historical Meeting
Rockhaven Sanitarium was the last remaining intact sanitarium in the foothills, an area that once hosted dozens of sanitariums. Now abandoned, Rockhaven was purchased by the City of Glendale, and since then has been lovingly maintained by the City and the Friends of Rockhaven. Joanna Linkhorst, head of the Friends of Rockhaven, will talk about Rockhaven’s fascinating history as an upscale women-only facility, and the many movie stars and community leaders that were patients there. She’ll describe its current state, and the dreams for its future as a community center.

The meeting of the Historical Society of Crescenta Valley is on Monday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. at the La Crescenta Center for Spiritual Living at the corner of Dunsmore and Santa Carlotta Avenues in La Crescenta.

Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day
All are invited to the next Rosemont Preservation Day on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Restoration events help restore the natural habitat at the Rosemont Preserve. Volunteers will focus on identifying and removing invasive plant species to allow room for the native flora to become reestablished, as well as some light brush clearance.

Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes, comfortable clothes and garden gloves (long pants and sleeves are recommended). Those who have a shovel, spade, loppers or clippers should bring them along. Other tools will be available.

The preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park.

This event is free to the public, all ages, no reservations required.

For further information, contact the Friends of the Rosemont Preserve at RosemontFriends@gmail.com.

Twelve Oaks on CVCA Agenda

The meeting is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the La Crescenta Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd., at La Crescenta Avenue. Park in the upper lot accessed from La Crescenta Avenue.

The meeting is free and open to the public with light refreshments served.
