Remembering Sept. 11, 2001
“America will never run and we will always be grateful that liberty has found such brave defenders.”
~ George W. Bush Quotes
September 11, 2001 was a day of tragedy and despair, but it was a day that also reminded all Americans of our nation’s strength. The bravery, the unity, the will to overcome – these are just a few words to describe what our country’s men and women portrayed. Although this day that took place 12 years ago is a reminder of loss, it is also a day that we celebrate undeniable acts of valor that took place.
To honor those who have sacrificed for our country and to celebrate the strength of our nation, our very own Crescenta Valley community members hosted a tribute. On Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 8:15 a.m., the Early Rodders Car Club showed its appreciation to the five local fire stations, the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station, and Glendale Police-Montrose Sub-Station. Special thanks to all those who worked so diligently to make this event happen; what a great way to remember!
Though the day has passed, as individuals let us remember to thank our service men and women for their hard work and dedication to our community. If you notice one of these men or women on the street, do not hesitate to express your recognition of their efforts. It is easy to forget that many of our children were not even born or too young to recall the calamity that hit our nation on Sept. 11, 2001. A good way to educate our youth is to share with them your memories of the event and perhaps have them make a thank you card for a local service group they are aware of today. It is important to acknowledge that there are members of our community who sacrifice to keep us safe, happy and united just as it is important to acknowledge those members of our nation who lost their lives over a decade ago and should be called heroes!
