SCHOOL CLOSURES ANNOUNCED
The Glendale Unified School District announced that all schools located north of Foothill Boulevard will be closed today, Jan. 21 due to adverse weather. This will affect Mountain Avenue, Monte Vista, Valley View and Dunsmore elementary schools and Rosemont Middle School and Clark Magnet High School. The La Crescenta Presbyterian Center for Children will be open on Thursday, Jan. 21 and is available for school-age (kindergarten through sixth grade) children who may not have school due to the Glendale Unified School District closure. MORE SAND AT TWO
STRIKE PARK

Allied Waste replenished sand for sandbags at Two Strike Park. Allied Waste also reminds residents that trash pick up will be delayed if roads are impassable. If that occurs, pick-up will be the following day.

MANSIONIZATION ON
CVCA AGENDA

The Crescenta Valley Community Association will be discussing all of the issues of mansionization at its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 7:00 p.m. at the Dunsmore Park Community Room at 4700 Dunsmore Ave. in La Crescenta. The public is invited to attend and to offer opinions about the issue, and to hear from representatives from Glendale and La Crescenta

710 ON TRIAL: UNITING
OUR COMMUNITIES

The Urban & Environmental Policy Institute (UEPI) at Occidental College is hosting a community forum on Saturday, Jan. 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The purpose of the forum is to increase awareness of the Caltrans proposals for extension of the 710 Freeway northward, address environment issues related to the local regional transportation system, share information and build a broader and more united community base of residents and activists.
All are invited to attend this free event that includes community speakers, panel discussions, and break-out sessions.

McFALL ANNOUNCES
RETIREMENT

Glendale City Manager Jim Starbird announced that longtime Assistant City Manager Bob McFall will retire effective June 30. McFall has been with the city 33 years. Starbird has not yet selected a replacement. In his capacity as Assistant City Manager, McFall serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the city and oversees the general operations of all 15 city departments. He is involved in all aspects of the city’s employee relations program, serves as the administrative hearing officer for personnel grievances and appeals, and serves as a trainer in the Glendale University program.
McFall was appointed Assistant City Manager in 1987.
