Groundbreaking at First Baptist
First Baptist Church at La Crescenta is holding a groundbreaking ceremony for its new courtyard on Sunday, Oct. 13 at noon. This special event celebrates an idea that is being brought to fruition after having been talked about for the last 30 years.

Construction is due to begin on Oct. 21.

First Baptist Church – La Crescenta is located at 4441 La Crescenta Ave., La Crescenta.

Parent Education Classes at LCPC
LCPC Parent Education is launching a six-week night session titled Parent Express for parents of ’tweens to teens. Classes meet Wednesday nights from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and run Oct. 9 through Nov. 13.  The cover a variety of important topics including: bonding, power struggles, substance abuse, anxiety/depression and raising a well-rounded child.

People may attend all, some, or one of the classes. Tuition costs $60 for the entire series or $10 per class at the door with free childcare available for children 0-12 per RSVP to heather@lacanadapc.org.

“Open Mic Night” at Our Lady of Lourdes
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Tujunga is hosting its first

“Open Mic Night” on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Singer/songwriters, small musical groups, poets and comedic acts are invited to sign up for a time slot by emailing Tracy Fajota at tlgajota14@gmail.com. Performers are free and guests are $5, which includes refreshments. Sound system, electric piano and drum kit will be provided.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The event is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Parish Hall at 10275 Tujunga Canyon, Tujunga.



Center for Spiritual Living Calendar
On Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. the Center for Spiritual Living-La Crescenta is hosting spiritual movie night. Louise Hay’s, “You Can Heal Your Life” will be shown.

A love donation will be collected.

On Oct. 16 at 7 p.m., Wednesday Night Topics focuses on “The Nature of Reality” with Phil Mullen and Bob Crosby.

A love donation will be collected.

Sunday celebration services are at 10 a.m. after the 9:30 a.m. metaphysical lesson.

Bible Studies at Montrose Church
A variety of Bible studies and times are available at Montrose Church. A women’s and men’s Bible basics class and study of the Book of James are just some of the studies taking place.

Anyone interested in attending one of the studies can go online to register (http://montrosechurch.org/biblestudy). Pre-registration helps with planning for childcare and group assignments.

Women’s Day Class
Community Bible Study, Glendale invites the public to join its Women’s Day Class that is studying the book of Romans, the apostle Paul’s fullest statement of the Gospel. The study meets from 9:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Glendale Presbyterian Church, 125 S. Louise St., Glendale.
