Oktoberfest 2013 Family Fun Zone
I hope you will be joining us this Saturday, Oct. 5 for the 36th Annual Oktoberfest. The weather should be absolutely gorgeous making it a perfect day to spend outside with family and friends. This year we have tried to consolidate all of our family activities into the 2400 block at the west end of Honolulu Avenue. Ninety-nine percent of the rides will be down there making it convenient to ride all the rides as many times as your kids would like.
If you want to take a ride on the Ferris wheel, you will find that at the intersection of Honolulu Avenue and Ocean View Boulevard right next to the Bavarian stage where you can take in a breathtaking view of the entire event. The popular dunk tank, hosted by the Glendale Fire Dept., will be back and you don’t want to miss your chance to soak a firefighter!
New this year will be a kids’ craft area brought to you by a local company called “Little Artist Party” where you can paint an Oktoberfest ceramic piece to take home with you. We will also have face painting and personalized caricature drawings by a professional artist who lives right here in Montrose.
There will be an entertainment stage in the lot between Wells Fargo Bank and the Montrose Pet Hospital that will provide great music from local youth bands. The stage will also host the best-dressed dog contest sponsored by the Montrose Pet Hospital.
Finally, to complete your fun family experience, be sure to stop by one of our photo booths to get your family portrait. We have two locations to serve you. There will be Oktoberfest props and fun scenery to complete this family memory. When the day turns into night, make sure to get your neon necklace bracelet so that you can stand out from the crowd! As I have said before, we have put the German back into our Oktoberfest.
So please join us at noon on Saturday, Oct. 5 and hoist a glass of Spaten Oktoberfestbier Ur-Märzen straight from Munich paired with a traditional Bavarian sausage made by Schreiner’s Fine Sausages and topped off with a side of real sliced German potato salad. And don’t forget, on your way home stop by one of our two souvenir booths and pick up an Oktoberfest T-shirt or hat with our new 2013 logo or choose from many of our other Oktoberfest souvenirs. Oktoberfest is from noon to 11 p.m. in the 2200, 2300 and 2400 blocks of Honolulu Avenue.
