On Monday, October 7 at 2:22 p.m., 9 Glendale units (1 Battalion Chief Command Team, 4 engine companies, 2 ladder truck companies, and 2 basic life support ambulance) along with 1 Los Angeles County Engine company responded to a reported house fire located at 3437 Honolulu Avenue in the City of Glendale.
Glendale Engine 28 arrived on scene and discovered a fire on an exterior fence that was extinguished prior to firefighters arriving on scene but signs of fire extension into the attic. Firefighters deployed a hand line hose and conducted ventilation in the involved attic to put the fire out. Knock down of the fire was declared at 2:39 p.m.; 17 minutes after units were dispatched to the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Glendale Fire Department resources were on scene for two hours and 26 minutes. Structural damage is estimated to be $50,000 and $5,000 in damage to contents. Glendale Fire Department encourages residents to ensure sprinklers and smoke detectors are working properly.
