McGroarty Appoints New Board Members

McGroarty Arts Center has appointed four new board members, a new board chair and a new vision for the center.

Joe Aguirre, former McGroarty Development chair and retired LAUSD principal, Ross McConnell, former Army veteran and project engineer, Julia Ward, owner of local Sunland Printing and Steve Slomkowski working producer/publisher will join McGroarty Arts Center’s board effective last month. The appointments increase the number of MAC directors from nine to 13.

Over the coming months, the board members will work to strengthen their skills and become acquainted with the center in their respective roles.

“We made a pledge to recruit the very best, most talented leaders to McGroarty’s already outstanding board of directors,” said Frank DeLucia, board treasurer. “Ross, Steve and Julia bring tremendous operational and leadership expertise and experience to the table. We are pleased that Joe is returning. I’m confident they will make enormous contributions as we support our new executive director, Candace Sorensen, and her team in helping MAC to continue serving our customers, strengthening our partnerships and building value for our shareholders. It’s an enormously satisfying time to be part of McGroarty Arts Center.”

With the additions to the board, McGroarty has also appointed Regina Clark as board chair and Michelle Ramage as Development chair.
