UPDATE: 10:45 a.m.
A pursuit that wove throughout foothills neighborhoods this morning began in Sun Valley and involved a suspect thought to have robbed a dental office Wednesday afternoon in the 3900 block of Ocean View Boulevard in Montrose.
The suspect entered the dentist’s office and, after telling the employees he had a gun and knife, locked them in a room. No weapon was actually seen.
“He held them captive for five hours while he took cellphones [and other items]. He fled in one of the employees’ vehicles, a white Toyota,” said Deputy Randy Forney of the CV Sheriff’s Station.
This morning, a pursuit began when the suspect was spotted in the stolen vehicle in Sun Valley. The pursuit at times was on the Foothill 210 Freeway and surface streets including neighborhoods in La Cañada and La Crescenta. La Crescenta-area schools were briefly put on lockdown as a precautionary measure. CV sheriffs were assisted by Glendale PD and CHP and air support. Law enforcement stopped traffic along Foothill Boulevard out of concern for the safety of citizens on the streets.
“The guy was everywhere,” said Dep. Forney.
At about 8 a.m. the pursuit was called off by CV sheriffs but the suspect continued to be watched via law enforcement in air ships. Surface streets are particularly congested this time of the morning due to students being transported to school and people to work. Because it was Halloween, law enforcement was even more concerned with citizen safety as the suspect was driving very fast. One witness said she saw the vehicle traveling down Foothill Boulevard toward oncoming traffic.

CHP then initiated a  pursuit and performed various maneuvers to stop the suspect in Tujunga where he was taken into custody. He is described as a 33-year-old male. No other information has been released.

UPDATE: 9:16 a.m. Ofc. Ramirez of CA Highway Patrol said that the initial pursuit began as the result of a robbery and that the pursuit is now ended.

UPDATE: 8:37 a.m. LASD is now concentrating their investigation in the Tujunga area.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Department, Crescenta Valley station were in pursuit of a vehicle this morning at about 7: 45 a.m.
A Sheriff’s spokeswoman said the pursuit had ended at about 8 a.m. However the vehicle was still in the area and an investigation is ongoing.
No information as to what prompted the pursuit, which included several LASD and Glendale Police vehicles and air support, was released by CV Sheriffs.
Several elementary schools in the area have postponed their Halloween parades and have gone into lockdown mode.
