Eleven young ladies have been selected as finalists for the 2014 Miss La Cañada Flintridge Royal Court, with the Miss LCF court being announced this Friday, Dec. 6 at the Festival in Lights at Memorial Park, from 4 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
Strength in academics, sports, extracurricular activities and volunteerism were among the qualities the judges analyzed in making their selections from among 21 original applicants. Coordinators of this year’s program are LCF Chamber directors and members Pat Anderson, Kim Beattie, Suzie Johnson, Katherine Markgraf and Linda Taix-Paccone.
“This year our judges had a real challenge to come up with not only the 11 finalists but also selecting the five to be named this Friday. All of the applicants are well qualified to serve and the chamber is delighted with the judges selections,” said Pat Anderson, CEO of the chamber. “This will be our 41st year for the Royal Court and this year is just as exciting as all the years before.”
The contest is an annual event sponsored by the LCF Chamber of Commerce and Community Association. Miss La Cañada Flintridge will receive a minimum scholarship of $500 and each court member will receive a minimum of $250 scholarship from the LCF Chamber of Commerce & Community Association, along with several gifts from local merchant chamber members.
A formal coronation ceremony will take place during the LCF Chamber’s Installation & Awards Gala on Jan. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the LCF Country Club.
