Shortly after midnight the California Highway Patrol responded to a call concerning two big rigs that were involved in a rear end collision on the westbound Foothill (210) freeway east of the Lowell Avenue exit. The impact caused one of the big rigs to catch fire, said Officer Francisco Villalobos.
All lanes on the westbound 210 were and continue to be closed as of 5:18 a.m. At least one lane is estimated to be open by 5:30 a.m. with all lanes open by 6:30 a.m., Villalobos said.
However, he added, the estimated times have been extended once so the opening of the freeway may take longer.
All westbound traffic is exiting off Pennsylvania Avenue. Although one of the drivers of the big rig complained of pain neither driver was transported to a hospital.
