More Community Award Winners
Our installation and community awards dinner is a week away and we hope that you are all planning to join us we recognize our board and our outstanding community supporters. This week I would like to highlight our Business Person of the Year, Beautification Award and Community Enhancement Award and our Community Endearment Award.
Our Business Person of the Year is really about the three owners who make up Montrose Travel – Joe McClure, Julie McClure and Andrea McClure Myzsa. They are a large international company and are right here in our own backyard. Montrose Travel is one of America’s top 50 travel management companies, with over 190 employees, over 500 independent contractors and $180 million in gross sales. In business since 1956, they say they “will be here tomorrow to back up our promises of today.”
The chamber has chosen Montrose Travel to receive this award because they give so much back to the community. They are major sponsors at almost every event in the area not only giving of their finances but giving of their time as well. Many of their employees volunteer at our annual Oktoberfest and have done so for many years. Thank you very much, Montrose Travel.
Our Community Enhancement Award winner is USC Verdugo Hills Hospital. They have not only beautified their campus, they have improved their level of service in almost every area and support this community with their time, goods and services as well allowing use of their community rooms to local service organizations.
Our Community Endearment Award is being given to the Glendale Educational Foundation. This “behind the scenes” organization that you might not know much about is the backbone of the GUSD. They are “committed to generating funding to enrich, enhance the programs and projects of the GUSD for a healthy and quality learning environment to benefit students, staff, parents and the community.” Our Beautification Award this year goes to the most beautiful addition to the Montrose Shopping Park, Casa Cordoba Café and Giftware. Not only did they bring a great restaurant to town where I am sure many of you have had the pleasure of dining, they breathed new life into Zwick’s Plaza and transformed the courtyard that many people did not even knew existed. It is a beautiful place to sit out under the stars and enjoy Montrose. Thank you, Jeannie and Chris Bone.
