La Cañada Flintridge Orthopaedic Guild began the new year with the 16 guild members in attendance at the home of Marie Baker, president. The meeting was opened with congratulatory comments concerning the success of the Authors Luncheon held Oct. 29. Plans are underway for the 2014 luncheon scheduled for Oct. 28 at the Angeles National Golf Course in Sunland.

The guild’s fundraising efforts support Orthopaedic Institute for Children (OIC) in Los Angeles.

Orthopaedic Institute for Children has served 2 million children over the last century and is fulfilling its mission to provide outstanding care for pediatric patients with musculoskeletal disorders through medical education and scientific research. In partnership with UCLA Health System and jointly funded by OIC and UCLA, the Orthopaedic Hospital Research Center, located on UCLA Westwood Campus, was constructed in 2007 and the new Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital opened in January 2012.
