Celebrating 90 Years for Crescenta Valley Adventist School
This weekend, Crescenta Valley Adventist School (CVAS) celebrated its 90th anniversary with an open house extravaganza. The CVAS school families, alumni and members of the community enjoyed food trucks, bouncers and games. Pastor Cary Fisher rededicated the school campus to God and Associate Superintendant Dr. Pam Forbes performed the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Also in attendance were the CVAS staff (shown from left) kindergarten teacher Melissa Wilson, junior high teacher Chanda Castaneda, Principal Wendy DiLullo-Newmyer, Home and School President Deedee Pardo, Office Manager Debra Powell, and third/fourth teacher Sharon Balta. Alumni and new faces graced the campus enjoying all that CVAS had to offer. Prospective students walked through the classrooms in awe of all the projects the students had completed. One child of an out-of-town alumna remarked, “I wish we lived closer, Mommy. This school is fun!” Prospective parents were equally intrigued and filled out student applications to ensure their child had a reserved seat for the upcoming school year.
Principal Newmyer explained, “This school is a hidden gem nestled in the foothills away from the bustle of the city. For 90 years, we have educated kindergartners through eighth graders in the Crescenta Valley community, focusing on the whole child: spiritually, academically, physically, and socially. Here at CVAS we ensure the class sizes are small in order to build character through academics in a caring, Christian environment.”
