On Nov. 21, Steven Dols, 15, of La Crescenta earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle Scout Award. In recognition of this accomplishment, an Eagle Scout Court of Honor will be held for him at Montrose Church on March 8 at 1 p.m.

A member of Troop 319, Steven is one of approximately 4% of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank. Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community, church or synagogue-related service project to earn his Eagle.      Steven wanted his Eagle project to incorporate areas of importance to him, eventually planning and organizing a project that tied in school, Scouts and church all in one package. In cooperation with his church and his involvement with it in the Summer Night Lights program in Pacoima, Steven’s project was to provide backpacks stuffed with school supplies for 100 school-aged children. He gathered donations of backpacks and supplies from members of his troop, church and community through a Scouting for School Supplies drive and handed out the backpacks at the end of last summer.

Steven joined Cub Scouts with Pack 310 as a Tiger Cub at Lincoln Elementary.  He progressed through the Cub Scouting program, earning the Arrow of Light before bridging to Boy Scout Troop 319. Steven held many positions within Troop 319 including scribe, troop guide, and senior patrol leader and enjoys being on the belay team on the troop’s rock climbing outings.

He is looking forward to his future years in the troop and continuing his time as a Boy Scout. He appreciates this achievement and would like to recognize and thank the leaders and his fellow Scouts of both Pack 310 and Troop 319 who have guided him along the way and to all who donated supplies, time and support to his project.

Steven is a member of Montrose Church and is active in cross-country and track at Crescenta Valley High School where he is a sophomore. He is the son of Paul and Lisa Dols.
