Volunteer Counselors Sought for Horse Camp

Altadena Stables is looking for high school students and young adults to assist as volunteer counselors for its summer horse camp.

Having experience with handling horses is preferred, but is not required as long as the individual has the desire and willingness to learn. Training sessions will be offered and will focus on safety, handling of horses, horse behavior and grooming.

The training session will be held on Saturday, March 22 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Altadena Stables. It is critical for interested participants to attend this session as it will be used to evaluate candidates for counselor positions. For the individual who has a conflict with this date, there is a possibility of other arrangements. Further training will be required for those who have been accepted as counselors. Individuals may be able to use this experience toward service hours.

Altadena Stables has been running successful horse camps for more than 25 years. Training sessions and camps are directed by professionals Marcy McLemore and Teri Botfield. Their combined years of experience bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to these programs.

All participants for the training session must register in advance. For more information and to register, call the stables at (626) 797-2012.
