There’s no better way to spend an evening than at a cocktail party in the Roosevelt Hotel ballroom in Hollywood. Oh wait, yes ere is: a cocktail party in the Roosevelt Hotel ballroom in Hollywood – with models.

The Third Annual Hollywood BeautyMaker Awards were held Feb. 16 in the Blossom Room at the Roosevelt Hotel, site of the first Academy Awards ceremony (May 16, 1929). Now, 85 years later, the awards show for the industry that makes actors and models look as amazing as they do took place to honor “hair salon people who are making a positive difference in society and recognizing role models from all segments of the beauty world,” said Steven Casiola and Annie Casciola, Publishers of BE! Beauty Entertainment magazine and executive producers of the event. The awards show, held for the first time in Hollywood, featured 29 hairstylists with 29 models, all vying for the BeautyMaker of the Year award. A runway was set up in the Blossom Room for models to take a spin and show off the amazing work of these hairstylists who have poured their lives into making these beautiful women look even more beautiful.

When all was said and done, a winner was announced. Charlie Bracknay, hair stylist, co-founder and creative director of Haus Salon in Minneapolis, Minn. was named the BeautyMaker of the Year for his work with model Kayla Bresee. Make-up artist Camilla Orosco, a hair agent from Boise, Idaho, contributed with the makeup for Bresee. Bracknay gave some explanation to the audience as to his reasoning behind the look he decided to go with for Bresee.

“This is The New Hollywood Look.  My hairstyle for my model references the classic look of Hollywood reimagined for a modern day woman,” said Bracknay.
