A Very Good Year!
“Oh the places you’ll go, Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So … get on your way!”~ Dr. Seuss
The year is 1993. Nelson Mandela is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. American astronauts aboard the space shuttle carry out the successful mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope. And, for some reason, Snoop Dogg’s solo career begins to blossom.
On our local La Crescenta soil, the Smith family acquires what is now Bob Smith Toyota, and also become members of the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce. Spanning four generations and almost 100 years of family history in the automobile industry, they remain resilient and steadfast in their mission statement and philosophy, “Take care of your customers and everything else will fall in to place.”
On Wednesday, March 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Bob Smith Toyota is opening its doors for our March business mixer, affectionately known as the, “Pre-Smart-A-Thon” mixer. Join us for food, fun and mingling and also enjoy a special demonstration from the Clark Magnet High School 696 robotics team. Information on this year’s 26th Annual Smart-A-Thon luncheon will also be available.
Excitement is building around here! Our 9thAnnual Hometown Country Fair is one month away! With a very special thanks to Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation, this year’s event will take place Saturday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Crescenta Valley Park. This is by far one of the best events of the year, and its popularity is evident by the fact that it attracts everyone under the sun: families, arts and crafts lovers, dog and animal admirers, thrill seekers and amusement park riders, food fanatics, car show enthusiasts and music lovers. There will be live entertainment and good ole fashioned people watching. It really is a hometown event and has managed to showcase all the nooks and crannies of our unique and very special town. If you have something to promote or sell, we want you to join us as we welcome profit and non-profit vendors. There will be a raffle to win an iPad mini, and tickets are on sale now for a very low $5 each. We will also have an impressive silent auction and a pie-eating contest. Before it all commences, there will be an early morning 5K race to get your blood pumping, so you will be full of energy and ready to take advantage of all of this fun! And, best of all, entrance to the fair is free for everyone! We look forward to seeing you April 5!
Please mark your calendars
