Power was restored by midnight to GWP customers in far north Glendale affected by the overnight power outage. Crews are continuing to investigate the cause of the outage.
UPDATED 10:15 p.m.An estimated 5,000 GWP customers, including far north Glendale west of Lowell and north and south of Foothill Boulevard as well as the Montrose area near Montrose Park, are experiencing a power outage that occurred shortly after 9 p.m. GWP crews are trying to determine the cause of the outage. Those driving need to be cautious as traffic signals are out.
The Montrose business section still has power because they are on a separate grid, according to Sgt. Tom Lorenz, spokesman for the city of Glendale.
“The power outage originated in the Montrose substation,” Lorenz said. Supervisor and crews are en route to the substation. They estimate the power should be up by 10:45 p.m.
