For the second consecutive spring, Art Center graduate Eerren Tsaturyan has assembled an eclectic, fun art show of local artists at the Modest Fly Art Studio Gallery, continuing through May 10. The show boasts dark pen and ink drawings, a friendly giraffe and everything in between.

Among the selected works are three “treasures of the deep” shell mosaics by artist Karine Almir. A popular art form on the East Coast, she gathers shells of colors found only in certain spots around the world and spends hours painstakingly creating intricate mosaics of flower bouquets and other artistic designs.

Award-winning artist Linda Queally, who studied art and design at Otis Art Institute, shows two of her whimsical mermaids reclining in footed bathtub paintings.

In the spirit of the ‘Love of Art’ theme of the show, one of Rebecca Mate’s plein air acrylic paintings, called “Mountain Path,” was painted atop a hill along the Chandler Fire Road in Burbank. The group of artists from McGroarty Arts Center hauled canvas and easels up what the Sierra Club guide said was an easy hiking trail, and Mate captured the snaking trail that heads over the Verdugo Mountain Park hills towards La Crescenta and Montrose and the peaks beyond. One of Mate’s greeting cards on display at the show is of her photograph, entitled “Lost Glory,” of a fallen American flag she found on the hill entangled in a bush.

In addition, other artists showing are Bobbie Rich, Elijah Ford, Ed Deveikis, Joshua Pina, Eerren Tsaturyan, Evelina Kazaryan, Michael Farber, Eric Rosenwald, Jennifer Sirell and Richard Singleton.
