New Principals Named at La Crescenta Elementary and Toll Middle School

Dr. Matt Dalton has been selected as Toll Middle School’s next principal.  Dr. Dalton has been working in the GUSD since 2001 as an elementary teacher, middle school teacher, Teacher Specialist and Assistant Principal of Toll Middle School.

Dr. Dalton holds several advanced degrees including a Doctor of Education from the University of Southern California. In addition to his duties as Assistant Principal, Dr. Dalton is an active member in a number of District committees including the District’s Professional Development Team.

Retiring Toll Principal Mr. Bill Card said, “Dr. Dalton comprehends the value of a child and how to motivate students to do better in their school and personal lives; he is ready to assume the leadership role of a principal.”

Dr. Josephine Bixler has been selected as La Crescenta Elementary School’s next principal. Dr. Bixler has been working in the GUSD since 2006 as a Teacher Specialist and Assistant Principal of Wilson Middle School. She began her teaching career in 1997 in the Burbank Unified School District where she taught English, History and multiple levels of English Language Development as well as working with students with special needs.

Dr. Bixler holds several advanced degrees including a Doctor of Education from the University of Southern California. She has coached teachers to maximize their teaching strengths and has managed school categorical budgets.

Richard Lucas Principal of Wilson Middle School said, “Dr. Bixler has the leadership ability, experience, and skills to be an asset to any school. Her personality lends itself to interaction and open communication whether it is with students, staff members, parents, or members of the community.”
