On May 8 at the annual prayer breakfast sponsored by St. Bede’s Builders Club and the Kiwanis-AM Club of La Cañada, Sean Bird received the Hope of America Award.

The award is given to a person who demonstrates a capacity of leadership, ethical and moral character and academic competency.  Kiwanis-AM chose Bird because he fulfilled all the requirements to the fullest. His service to St. Francis High School was to serve in a leadership capacity all four years. His service to the community and to the world was through Brothers Helpers (local organization that feeds 300 homeless five nights a week) and worked with Bikes 4 Orphans collecting and sending 43 bicycles to Machao orphanage in Kenya. Bird was also able to maintain 3.84 grade point average during his four years at St. Francis.
