Students of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy have held several fundraisers to aid victims of the 7.0 earthquake disaster in Haiti on Jan. 12. The students were asked to upgrade from the usual donation of $1 to $5 for the privilege of wearing free dress, thus raising about $1,700.

More fundraisers include the sale of wrist bands. Annabelle and Manuel Rojas donated 1,000 bands in Haiti’s national colors of red and blue with the message, “God Bless Haiti,” which are being sold to students for $2.

Senior Taylor Vail has spearheaded the campus’ Soles4Souls, a school-wide used-shoe drive to benefit Haiti victims. Soles4Souls is coordinated by Sports Chalet in this area, so the community can drop off their used shoes at any Sports Chalet store.

Junior Allie Kern is planning a sale of canvas grocery bags that say FSHA with an arrow under the “H” pointing to the word Haiti.

Last but not least, the  FSHA’s new Survivor Club is collecting a variety of supplies for Haiti, including pain medications, flashlights, baby food and more.
