Last Thursday was Disneyland’s 59th anniversary celebration at the park in Anaheim. To celebrate, a special opening moment was held on the steps of the Main Street, U.S.A. train station. The mayor of Main Street officiated the ceremony which included some classic Disneyland songs sung by The Dapper Dans before 59 characters came parading out to join the festivities. The height of the ceremony was Walt Disney’s opening day speech played in the same spot where it was first spoken 59 years ago ending with the release of white doves from the platform. And to top it all off, the 60th anniversary theme was revealed – the Diamond anniversary. It will focus on the last six decades of Disney magic, and there is even going to be a photo contest on social media to win some fabulous prize packages with one lucky grand prize winner being selected to take part in the 60th anniversary celebration this time next year.
