Glendale Sunrise Launches Safety Project
The Glendale Sunrise Rotary Club kicked off a four-week community safety education campaign on Aug. 8. Not Even For A Minute focuses on the dangers of leaving children unattended in and around vehicles. Watch the Road targets distracted drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists to raise their level of awareness while moving in traffic.
Large banners have been installed along Brand Boulevard and will be on display until Sept. 18. Each banner is two-sided and addresses one issue.
Rosemont Preserve Open Gate Afternoon
There is an “open gate” event at Rosemont Preserver on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 17. This is a chance for folks to visit the Preserve and wander the trail at their own pace, enjoying the tranquil setting, the wildlife and the natural beauty. Photographers will want to bring their camera to capture the late afternoon light.
The gate will be open from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Friends of the Rosemont Preserve committee members will be available to answer questions and introduce this community resource.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave., La Crescenta. Those who plan on walking the trail should wear sturdy shoes.
This event is free to the public, all ages, no reservations required. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets.

CV Station Preps for Rummage Sale
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Volunteer group from Crescenta Valley Station is having their annual rummage sale at the Crescenta Valley Station, 4554 Briggs Ave., La Crescenta on Saturday Sept. 13 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the upper parking lot. This is the only fundraiser for the year.
Donation items can either be dropped off at the Crescenta Valley Station or picked up by contacting Dep. Jesus Alcala at (818) 236-4021, email jalcala@lasd.org or Sgt. Cynthia Gonzales at (818) 236-4019or email c2gonzal@lasd.org.
