A community forum has been scheduled by Glendale Unified School District to discuss the Sagebrush territory transfer issue.
The meeting will be held at Mountain Avenue Elementary on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria. There will be two other meetings held at Monte Vista and Fremont elementary schools. The dates and times are still being determined.
“We want to provide factual information and give [parents] an update on [Sagebrush],” said Dr. Richard Sheehan, GUSD superintendent.
Sagebrush is the far western area of La Cañada Flintridge. Children living in Sagebrush attend GUSD schools in Crescenta Valley. Mountain Avenue is one of those schools.
La Cañada Unified School District and GUSD have been in talks concerning a Sagebrush transfer. The discussions have been intense at times between those who support the transfer in La Cañada and those in La Crescenta who want clarification concerning the transfer and the ramifications for Crescenta Valley/GUSD schools if the transfer is approved by Los Angeles County.
Sheehan along with other GUSD administrators will provide the information via a Power Point presentation.
The community is invited and encouraged to attend these meetings. Mountain Avenue Elementary is located at 2307 Mountain Ave. in La Crescenta.
