Crescenta Valley Remembers

The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce along with the Early Rodders Car Club will honor the 2,753 victims of Sept. 11, 2001 with the second annual Crescenta Valley Remembrance Parade. This is an idea that came to life last year when Steve Pierce, president of the Crescenta Valley Chamber, Dwight Sityar, member of the Early Rodders Car Club and Jean Maluccio, Crescenta Valley Chamber advisor were discussing the possibility of recognizing the day. After putting their heads together, the parade was created. The parade route will begin at the Ralphs parking lot in the 2600 block of Foothill in La Crescenta at exactly 9:11 a.m. The parade will make an appearance at both the CV Sheriff Station and the Glendale Police Dept. COPPS substation in Montrose. The procession route will also include five local fire stations and all the local public schools. All are invited to stand along the parade route and participate by cheering and waving!

There will also be a special evening ceremony at Bob Smith Toyota at 3333 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta starting at 7 p.m. Patriotic music will be played and desserts will be served. Details about the Remembrance Parade can viewed on the Crescenta Valley Chamber website.

Shred your sensitive documents! Come to the Tri-Community Shred Day on Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital (during the Foothills Community Business Expo). Two shredding trucks will be located in the lower east side parking lot of the hospital. Local residents and businesses may bring up to 10 boxes of old documents to be shredded. An express line will be available for customers with three units (boxes or bags) or less to be shredded. The event is hosted by Allied Waste Services, Score Greater Los Angeles, Shred Source and the Crescenta Valley, La Cañada & Montrose chambers of commerce.

He also provides free estimates to the local area. Amir enjoys educating the customer and will explain in detail the scope of the job so the customer understands exactly what the repair or installation is. Originally from Glendale, Amir and his wife of 30 years moved to the Crescenta Valley in 2006. They have two grown sons one of whom was recently in the Navy. Amir joined the chamber to get more involved in the community and currently volunteers at his church. For more information call (818) 541-1546 or email thehappyplunger@gmail.com.
