Downed Lines Cause Power Outage

photo
On Friday late afternoon, a woman exited the Foothill (210) freeway onto La Crescenta Avenue and was driving northbound when something struck her vehicle. When she pulled over she was surprised to see the object that struck her van was a transformer from a nearby Southern California Edison power pole. She then heard a crackling noise and the pole snapped near the top and crashed into a nearby parked SUV causing a power outage to over 200 customers. No one was injured, but the downed pole affected service for several blocks. Streets were closed and traffic was diverted while SCE crews worked throughout the long weekend to repair all the damage. Cause of the accident is under investigation.
