Mountain Avenue Elementary students, families, teachers and principal brought their tools and gloves to school on Saturday, March 27 to volunteer at the school’s semi-annual Beautification Day, sponsored by the PTA. The event beautifies the school grounds as the regular budget for gardening by school maintenance staff is limited to mowing the grass.
Families donated new plants and flowers, joining teachers in clearing the plant beds of weeds and planting fresh flowers. Students also cleared the entire campus of layers of dead pine needles, overgrown ivy and trimmed bushes to keep the walkways clear.
