CRAIG LEVRA TO SPEAK AT GCC
“From Defense to Offense – A Strategic Approach to Business Success during Difficult Economic Times” is this year’s Business Lecture Series presentation on April 29 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Glendale Community College auditorium.
The lecture features Craig Levra, president and chief executive office of Sport Chalet Inc. It will start directly after the state of the college presentation by Superintendent/President Dr. Dawn Lindsay. This year’s Business Lecture Series presentation will focus on strategic planning for success during difficult economic times. Levra will accept questions during the presentation. Additional information about the lecture and links to both a live web feed of the lecture itself and the set of five questions for students who want extra credit for attending the lecture will be available off a graphic link on the Glendale College home page.
FUNDRAISERS PLANNED FOR FOOTHILL RELAY FOR LIFE
Two local businesses will host fundraisers benefiting the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event in May.
Taco Deli at 3747 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta is a food sponsor for the May 15 event at Clark Magnet High School. On Wednesday, April 21, visit them and drop receipts in a bowl. A percentage of sales will be donated to Relay for Life.
On Saturday, April 24, from 6 to 9 p.m. The Wine Cave at 2427 Honolulu Ave. in Montrose is offering wine tasting, appetizers and entertainment by Dan Beer. The entrance fee is $20 which will go directly to the cancer relay event. RSVP kwduarte@sbcglobal.net.
TRI VALLEY SPECIAL OLYMPICS COMING TO CVHS
Up to 150 Special Olympics athletes from the Tri-Valley region of the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, Burbank and Glendale areas are set to compete in the second annual CV CAN Games on Saturday, May 1. The track and field event will be held at Susan Osborne field at Crescenta Valley High School, 2900 Community Ave. in La Crescenta from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. An estimated 200 volunteers are needed to help organize and run the competition, serve food and water, and help organize and support the athletes and their families. Anyone interested in volunteering for the event can contact volunteer coordinator Tiffany Cervenka at tcervenka@gusd.net.
TICKETS NOW ON SALE
Tickets for the annual Taste Montrose benefiting CVHS Prom Plus are now on sale. For $20, participants will have the opportunity to taste some of the fine fare in foohill community.
