Crescenta Valley High School parents received a phone call on April 18 via the PhoneEd system announcing the retirement of long time CVHS principal Linda Evans. Evans will continue at the school until June graduation then will continue serving the district at the GUSD offices in Glendale until her retirement is finalized in November.
“Linda will help with the transition of Richard Sheehan to the position of superintendent,” current superintendent Michael Escalante said. “Linda has done an amazing job in her time at CV.
She has continued year in and year out to raise students’ achievements.”
In what appeared to be an emotional phone call she announced her retirement and said her tenure was a rewarding experience.
Evans has been with the Glendale district for 36 years as a teacher and principal.  Before she was a teacher she was a student at Crescenta Valley High School.
As principal Evans coined the phrase getting on the “A to G bus.”  This was her way of guiding students to achieve all the California requirements, A to G, for continuing their education at a four-year college or university.   During her time at the high school the state testing scores have continued to climb, an increasing number of students have taken Advanced Placement classes and tests and the number of volunteer hours her students serve in the community has steadily grown to now over 2,000.
“High school principals like Linda are hard to find,” Escalante said.
Administrators met with staff on Tuesday to explore what qualifications the district should consider when interviewing for a new principal. A similar meeting with parents will take place on Monday night, April 26
at 6 p.m. at Crescenta Valley High School.
